WeTube Wednesdays: Hiatus Run

It has now been three weeks since my last post and to my surprise, I've actually received several complaints about the lack of postings. To those of you who actually visit the site every day I am truly sorry. Here's where I've been...

Guitarmageddon - Dan Lebowitz

Guitarmageddon - Sean Levy

String Cheese Incident - 08/12/07 - Red Rocks

And the biggest time-occupier of them all...

Law School.

So while I'm not exactly taking an extended hiatus, I will not have the luxury of posting as often as I would like. Anyways, I've gotta steal part of this week's tube from Hidden Track: Trey's recent guest appearance with Dave Matthews 08/14/07 in Saratoga, New York. While I'm not exactly what you would call a "fan" of the DMB, I do love hearing Trey tear it up. Ace summarizes this video best "It’s a fairly subdued performance, until we reach the five minute mark, when Trey opens it up and takes it to the car wash (presumably to get it waxed, and then air dry that shit)."

This one really got me in the mood for some classic Trey. How about the Harry Hood 11/16/95 West Palm Beach, FL?

WeTube Wednesdays: Hit Me With Music

"Trenchtown Rock" has always been one of my favorite Bob Marley songs. And it's definitely one of those that was just meant to be played live...

Bob Marley 06/02/77 London

Tracy Chapman, Ziggy Marley, and Stephen Marley 12/99 Jamaica

The Wailers 06/16/07 Las Vegas

Amateur video set to Sublime's version

Unfortunately I don't think videos exist for these covers, and it's a real shame given how good they sound...

WeTube Wednesdays: 10klf & Everyone Orchestra Edition

For this week's WeTube Wednesday I really wanted to put together a bunch of 10,000 Lakes clips, but there just aren't a ton to choose from...

My personal favorite was this Umphrey's McGee "Plunger" clip

"40's Theme" also scores a close second

Part of Derek Trucks' "Key to the Highway"

I also stumbled across some quality clips of the Everyone Orchestra covering "You Enjoy Myself"

Part 1 (Part 2) (Part 3)

And what's going on...

-STS9 released a slew of Fall tour dates

-Jimmy Page will testify against an accused bootlegger in Scotland

-buy some cool Phish, String Cheese, and other memorabilia and support the Mimi Fishman Foundation

-who needs an old pair of Chuck Taylors when you can have Joey Ramones

-the dancing glowstick girl made it to see String Cheese at 10,000 Lakes

-and holy shit, I'm still not sure if this is real, but it is definitely hilarious, and only a minute: the trailer for Harvest Fest 2007 (the festival actually has a killer lineup if you're interested in the Trans-Cosmic Tribadelic Space Carnival thing and happen to be in Minnesota during early September)

WeTube Wednesdays: Brain Damaged Eggmen Edition

Have you ever wished that two of your favorite bands would join forces to play sick Beatles and Pink Floyd covers?

Well if Umphrey's Mcgee and the Disco Biscuits count as two of your favorite bands then you're in luck.

The inaugural performance by D.U.M.B. super-cover-group "The Brain Damaged Eggmen" took place aboard Jam Cruise IV in January of '06; here are some of the highlights...

In the Flesh? (my personal favorite)

WeTube Wednesdays: Independence Edition

Happy 4th of July everybody! Here's a special WeTube Wednesday tribute to independence: the Roots interpreting Bob Dylan's "Masters of War" at Bonnaroo 2007.

And just for fun, a little String Cheese: Desert Dawn > Black Clouds > Desert Dawn from this year's Winter Carnival.

In other news...

-nostalgic for a little Creem Magazine? So are the folks at stylus

WeTube Wednesdays

Upset because you can't make it to see the Smashing Pumpkins in their (first) post-hiatus tour? I guarantee you that this video won't make you feel any better...

Catch Up-aroo

I would like to apologize to all ten of my devoted fans out there for the week long absence but with Bonnaroo and starting real work this week I've been kind of swamped...

-moe. will play another Radio City Music Hall New Year's Eve show; they've also announced a free outdoor show in Utah for you moe.rmons out there

-Umphrey's will play live on WLUP (Chicago radio) June 26

-speaking of Umphrey's - here's a Grateful Web interview with Jake and some MP3s from their 6/14 San Diego show courtesy of Rock Music Daily

-was March a good month for Tea Leaf Green? Decide for yourself with their latest podcast

-Vegoose is back October 26-28 (no lineup yet)

-Burning Oak interviews Keller Williams

-check out Hidden Track's 'roo Tubes

-and speaking of Tubes, I've missed at at least one WeTube Wednesday in the mix; here's the consolation prize - Phish doing "Halley's Comet" on 11/22/97 at Hampton

And of course, a roo-review is in the making...but before I say anything I think I disagree with every single point in this guy's Bonnaroo Review

WeTube Wednesdays

So I guess I'm a little late on this one (again)...here's RAQ playing "Beauregard" in Vail

And here's a real special treat...Radiohead's "Karma Police" from last year's Bonnaroo

WeTube Wednesdays

So I was playing around on YouTube today and was having too much fun to limit this week's WeTube Wednesday to one video. Here's a couple of good one's...

First off, this is pretty sweet: a dude with no arms who plays Tom Petty's "Last Dance With Mary Jane" on the guitar better with his feet than I could with my arms...

Next is My Morning Jacket's "One Big Holiday" from last year's Bonnaroo. I missed this one watching a killer Umphrey's set and a pretty good Disco Biscuits set at the other tent...

Here's a Neil Young classic - "Powderfinger" - check out the size of the amps!

Finally, Umphrey's playing "JaJunk" to close out their first night's performance at last weekend's Summer Camp festival - the sound quality's not great but you can feel the energy from the end of this set...a great (and not muddy or wet) memory...

And speaking of Summer Camp, here's another Summer Camp attendee who got their review up before me...thanks for showing me up Hidden Track.

WeTube Wednesdays

Oops...looks like I'm about 25 minutes late on this week's WeTube Wednesday. With all the packing for Summer Camp it nearly slipped my mind.

Personally 1998 is probably my favorite Phish year. "Ride Captain Ride" by Blues Image has also always been a personal favorite of mine. Imagine my delight when I found Phish covering Blues Image in 1998...enjoy!

WeTube Wednesdays

So this week I've got two clips that I think are sweet. The first is moe. wrapping up their 5-night run at the Highline Ballroom with "Plane Crash". The quality isn't amazing but damn you can feel the energy...

I also stumbled across Phish's Halloween show in Atlanta where they cover the Talking Heads. Here's the beginning of that set with "Born Under Punches".

WeTube Wednesdays

It's a beautiful Wednesday in Kentucky and I'm headed off to the gorge...

Before I go here's a clip - Umphrey's Mcgee - Partyin' Peeps - Fuji Rock Festival 7/30/06.

It starts off a little slow but gets nasty there at the end; enjoy!

WeTube Wednesdays

So after starting the WeTube Wednesdays feature I completely forgot about it. Now I am pleased to announce that WeTube Wednesdays has returned!

This week's clip is an amateur highlights clip of the the String Cheese Incident's Sea of Dreams Festival 12/31/06.

I was fortunate enough to attend Melt-Your-Face 2007 and this clip brings back a lot of fuzzy memories...can't wait for the Bonnaroo Incident.

WeTube Wednesdays

I'm adding a new feature to the blog, WeTube Wednesdays.

Basically I'll pick a video that I think is pretty sweet and post it. Anyone with video suggestions e-mail them to partyinpeepsblog@gmail.com.

The inaugural WeTube Wednesday video is...Phish...Peaches en Regalia...1989.

Not the best version of this song I've ever heard, but awesome nonetheless.
