Matisyahu Joins 311

I know I'm a little late on this announcement, but honestly, I just don't know how to react to this one. I really liked 311 when I was in middle school and that song "Down" dominated the airwaves. Then someone told me that "311" stood for "KKK" and I think I believed them. Other than a few random encounters with 311 since then, however, I have pretty much ignored the group for the last decade. That is, until they announced that Matisyahu would be joining them for their Summer Unity Tour 2007.

I went through a heavy Matisyahu phase for a few months last summer after someone turned me on to "Live at Stubbs". I caught Matisyahu at Bonnaroo and it was definitely one of my top five favorite 'roo performances.

Why do I call my time spent blaring reggae versions of stories from the Old Testament a phase (when I freely admit that the time spent listening to the 7/16/94 Harry Hood is an addiction)? Because one day it suddenly hit me: Matisyahu's music simply does not have very much potential for development. I think the guy's a great artist and really like the positive-ness of his music, I am just unsure what's next for the artist.

Unfortunately for yours truly, though, the Summer Unity Tour will be in the Midwest when I'm on the West Coast and then will make it to California when I get back to Kentucky.
