music and arts blog

When children study music, they begin to understand, they are studying the life itself. That is why music is governed by the laws of life and this is the reason of its existence and its influence on people. Music is accessible to everyone. Just like literature and visual art, music broadly penetrates all the areas of upbringing and education of children, being a major and irreplaceable mean of formation of their spiritual world.

Teacher’s essential task in this respect is to help the pupils to form their musical, spiritual, moral points of view, to captivate their attention with the music in general. One cannot educate a child without motivation, especially when it comes to musical culture; that is why the lesson should be more like a free improvisation. Preschool children get the material better when it is shown in the form of a game. That is why the teacher should be not only musically educated, but also should be able to entice the knowledge to the pupil through the game and invention. Children’s mind should collect musical impressions, ideas and terms, gain acoustic experience. From the very first lessons of developing hearing sense, memory, sense of rhythm, understanding of expressive and visual features of music, developing of performer’s skills is done through such musical genres as march, dance and song.

We hear a lot of music and we can distinguish its intonations (soft, calm song, calling signal etc.) as well as musical intonations related to human speech (intonations of moan, cry, anger, tenderness, sadness, joy etc.). Intonations expressing the inner world of a human being, its different movements (step, jumps, run, dance), as well as intonations taken from the world of nature, animal world, sounds of the city etc., are endless. . When children listen to music, they also listen to its mysteries, discover a new world within themselves, the world which exists in sounds and melodic intonations.

Formation of spiritual and moral values in the younger generation, emotional sensitivity, responsible attitude to any matter is the basis of education. Signing in a choir, the child first of all gets acquainted with vivid, imaginative spoken language, learns to see the beauty of the word, its sonority and melody.

Singing is the most widespread and accessible kind of art, and song is one of the most valuable means of moral and aesthetic upbringing, thanks to the unity of musical and literary text. Singing in a choir develops emotions and feelings, artistic, imaginative and associative thinking, fancy, that’s why singing in a choir has a special role in the system of additional education.
