Grateful Dead Cinema

According to Variety former roadie Steve Parish's book "Home Before Daylight: My Life on the Road with the Grateful Dead" will be made into a movie that we can all count down until 2009 for. According to Rolling Stone, "[t]he story, which has already been endorsed by Dead guitarist Bob Weir, will chart the history of the band, focusing on those times they chilled with Ken Kesey and Jefferson Airplane in the Haight-Ashbury days." Can't wait for 2009? Maybe Gus Van Sant's take on "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" will hold you over. Otherwise, wrapping up this week...

Update: Live Earth Rio Back On

According to Billboard, "A Brazilian judge today (July 5) revoked her own injunction blocking the Rio de Janeiro leg of the Live Earth global series of concerts after organizers secured approval from the police and met security concerns. "The show is on again.""

Wow, now all big Al needs is for the charges against his son to be dropped and he'll be two-for-two today...

Update: Today really keeps getting better for Al; Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens) will perform at Live Earth Hamburg

Couldn't Make it to Bonnaroo?

If you didn't get a chance to make it to Bonnaroo 2007 check out PT user Jiggs_' "Why Are You Here?" The flick contains a bunch of pics and clips but what makes it stand out to me is the film's variety (hell it seems like Jiggs_ covered every corner of the festival). Thanks Jiggs_!

For another mini-movie montage, check out Goodbye Deer Creek, "A home-movie type account of a Phish fans last trip to see a show. The second night of a 2 night Deer Creek show run."

When I Wake Up, Well I Know I'm Gonna Be...

While I'm not exactly the biggest fan of "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers, I've had the damn thing stuck in my head for about two days straight. As it turns out, I'm not the only one who this has happened to; in fact, this song is so damn contagious that it has prompted a bunch of would-be-filmmakers to do their own video renditions. Here are a few of my favorites...

Fireworks for Gore

Today's really just not former Vice President Al Gore's day. First, his son goes down Trey Anastasio style. Then, a Brazilian judge canceled Saturday's Live Earth concert in Rio De Janeiro due to security concerns. Well, at least he's still got global warming. In non-Gore related news...

-there are unsubstantiated, yet not completely baseless rumors of a Phil & Friends fall tour from the Philzone: "Rumors have surfaced that a P&F Fall Tour is imminent. It's way too early for details but we've heard Albany, NY is a potential stop. Certainly we'd expect heavy East Coast tour action as usual & maybe (please pray with us) some Red Rocks dates to kick it all off and some West Coast dates to encore the tour!"

-Bob Dylan will release a 3 disc, career-spanning box set titled "Dylan"
