The Ithaca Journal reports that in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Grateful Dead's 5/8/77 show at Cornell, the Mayor of Ithaca will declare May 8 Grateful Dead Day in Ithaca. In addition, "the headlining event of this anniversary celebration is Dark Star Orchestra's recreation of the Legendary May 8, 1977 Grateful Dead concert."
The real question is how long will it be before a Vermont mayor takes the cue and declares mid-august Phish week?

I can't believe that this is the only Dead post that you have. As a strong supporter of your musical beliefs and knowledge, I believe that we have come on this journey together and just taken different forks of the same road. I admire your love for the improvisational and ecclectic modern sounds of Phish, but you must take into account that the Dead gave them the chance to stay out of the mainstream that now is music and have a fan base a mile wide. I feel that out of respect for me (your best friend) and for the Dead that you post more tributary threads of the greatness that was and has evolved from the tour-only style that will never be again.
