Ear Candy: Phish "Taste" Walnut Creek

Phish Walnut Creek

From Phish:

NEW FROM JEMP RECORDS - 7/22/97 WALNUT CREELK, RALEIGH, NC

Two-DVD Set Includes Complete, Uncut Concert

On July 22, 1997, Phish performed the second show of their U.S. summer tour at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh, NC through a torrent of rain, thunder and lightning. Rather than cancel the gig, the band played on with the music mirroring the peaks in the storm’s intensity. Phish’s own JEMP Records is excited to offer the complete Walnut Creek show on DVD, in stores everywhere August 5. “Walnut Creek” features more than 2 hours of 5-camera footage in 5.1 Dolby Surround or optional stereo sound on two DVDs.

For your listening pleasure we've posted the "TASTE" from this show (complete with lightening strikes and thunder claps).

Fans can pre-order the DVD set now at Phish’s Dry Goods store. We are also offering a digital audio download (MP3 / FLAC) of the soundtrack for pre-order at livephish.com.

Phish Reunion Rumors

I just can't believe how fast the rumor originally posted at Jamtopia that "Phish is definitely reuniting and there will be a new Phish album produced by Steve Lillywhite" is spreading across the web. In case you haven't been following, the rumor has been re-reported in Billboard and Music Radar, not to mention every single music blog out there (at this rate there will be more bloggers on Phish tour next time around than passed out wookies).

My thoughts: if the current rumors were not true, someone would have denied it by now. Maybe the original Jamtopia post was below the Phish organization's radar, but Billboard certainly is not. Same with Lillywhite: members of the press have tried to contact him and are probably still trying to contact him - this could all be laid to rest with a denial but so far neither party has issued any sort of denial and there is no logical explanation that I can think of other than the rumors being true. I admit I may be rationalizing this because I want it to be true, but maybe not. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see...

While most reviews won't be printed until tomorrow and the message boards are mixed, The Weight saw MMJ at RCMH and had their faces melted off.
