Live Earth: Biggest Media Event Ever

Al Gore's Live Earth concerts to raise awareness about climate change will be "the biggest global media event of all time." Personally I have the same initial thoughts as Live Aid / Live 8 organizer Bob Geldof: "I hope they're a success. But why is he [Gore] actually organising them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that for years. We are all fucking conscious of global warming."

In other news this weekend...

RIP Led Zeppelin Reunion?

So after their was basically a consensus in the mainstream media that the remaining members of Led Zeppelin were set to do a reunion show and possibly even a subsequent reunion tour, Robert Plant went and squashed it all.

Unfortunately, according to Blabbermouth, "Speaking at a press conference for the upcoming Rockwave festival — which is scheduled to be held June 29, June 1 and June 3 in Athens, Greece — Plant insisted that he hadn't heard anything about the rumored ZEPPELIN reunion and jokingly added, "If there was one, then there wouldn't be enough doctors to support it!"

Well thanks a lot...

Help Wanted: Better Publicist

This is a courtesy posting for Tea Leaf Green, who is in desperate need of a new publicist. Why do I say this? Check out a stub of a recent L.A. Times Blog article that was sent out on the TLG e-mail list (I've highlighted my favorite parts for you):

"I understand why rock critics give jam bands a hard time. Their lyrics usually aren’t very good. Their self-indulgency borders on wankery and while their fans are usually good and decent people, they quite often aren’t the sharpest sticks of incense in the pack. But people need to start paying attention to San Francisco four-piece Tea Leaf Green. Sure, they sound a lot like the Dead, but no one ever said that was a bad thing and with Jerry pushing up scarlet begonias six feet deep, bands that can deliver improvised searing guitar solos and atmospheric keyboard riffs will always have a place in my heart (and the entire Jam Nation). Tea Leaf might not be breaking any new ground, but their set amply displayed why they’re regarded as one of the top bands on the jam-band circuit. These guys can play as well as anyone and if you’re looking for rootsy, soulful music that admittedly probably sounds much better under the influence, Tea Leaf Green are a much see. Already a huge commodity in the un-shaven set, Tea Leaf’s bravura nightcap performance at “The Other Stage,” proved that indie kids might have to stock up on patchouli the next time they roll through Los Angeles."

This author reeks of Darryl Smyers; in the span of a paragraph this dude insulted jam bands, their fans, Jerry, and Tea Leaf Green's inability to break "any new ground" (complete with a standard patchouli joke outro).

Why exactly are all of TLG's fans being sent this article? Just because it says Tea Leaf Green? My $.02...

Led Zeppelin Reunion Rumors Pan Out

As previously mentioned, the three remaining members of Led Zeppelin are considering a reunion tour with Jason Bonham on drums.

According to PR Inside "a source says, "Page, Plant and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert [for the late Ahmet Ertegun]. They are waiting for a definite date.
"And no-one can quite believe it, but during discussions about the concert they all gave the green light to a tour if it all does well and they don't all fall out.
"It has been hoped-for and denied for years. But this is the closest they have ever come to a reunion tour. The feeling is that this is going to happen next year.""
