moe. YouTube Video Contest Winner

Check out the winner of the moe. YouTube contest for best video.

Here's blackbudget's "Tailspin".

Today in the World

Check out what's happening around the world today...

-Can't make it to Mountain Jam (like me)? Watch it live via streaming webcast here

-Grateful web posts its Jam on the River day two coverage

-Pink Floyd will re-release "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" complete with all sorts of cool must-have special edition goodies (Syd Barrett's notebook anyone?)

-Stewart Copeland states the obvious calling Sting a "petulant pansy" - if this keeps up we might get to see a new Bonnaroo night two headliner (crossing my fingers)

-Only 19 total drug arrests at Summer Camp this year? I could have sworn that I saw that many on the way from Three Sisters Park to the highway

Everything Page

Page McConnell kicked off his Summer tour last night (5/30/07) in Burlington, VT. It was basically a safe show, focusing on his new material. One highlight of the night was when Mike Gordon joined his phormer band-mate for a rendition of "Back in the Basement". Click here for photos from this performance.

Thanks to the beauty of YouTube we can all watch a few clips from last night's performance.

Today in the World

Busy news day...

-Page (whose begins touring again tonight) added a slew of west coast dates

-Umphrey's will headline the Riverview Music Festival August 25-26 with Tea Leaf Green, Cornmeal, Brother's Past, and others

-The Disco Biscuits added two more dates to their summer run

-Ryan Adams mapped out his Summer tour

-Stewart Copeland promised not to play the same old reunion show at Bonnaroo

WeTube Wednesdays

So I was playing around on YouTube today and was having too much fun to limit this week's WeTube Wednesday to one video. Here's a couple of good one's...

First off, this is pretty sweet: a dude with no arms who plays Tom Petty's "Last Dance With Mary Jane" on the guitar better with his feet than I could with my arms...

Next is My Morning Jacket's "One Big Holiday" from last year's Bonnaroo. I missed this one watching a killer Umphrey's set and a pretty good Disco Biscuits set at the other tent...

Here's a Neil Young classic - "Powderfinger" - check out the size of the amps!

Finally, Umphrey's playing "JaJunk" to close out their first night's performance at last weekend's Summer Camp festival - the sound quality's not great but you can feel the energy from the end of this set...a great (and not muddy or wet) memory...

And speaking of Summer Camp, here's another Summer Camp attendee who got their review up before me...thanks for showing me up Hidden Track.

Catching Up

Unfortunately I was not able to blog from the middle of this year's Summer Camp Monsoon. Here's what I missed...

10,000 Lakes: Trey's out, Cheese's in

Speaking of Cheese, they've added more NYC and Red Rocks dates

Led Zeppelin Reunion?

moe. joins Lollapalooza

the Bonnaroo schedule was released; let the bitching begin...

How was Summer Camp you ask? Here are the highlights; I'll be posting more later...

-An entire year's worth of rain descended upon central Illinois in one day; it was not, however, nearly as effective at driving away hippies as...say...death metal
-Tea Leaf Green played a pretty good show (with Bayliss sitting in for a song or two)
-ALO blew my mind
-The Wailers just blew
-Keller and the WMDS were underwhelming, though I never realized how good Gibb Droll is
-Cornmeal was fun
-Brother's Past; what a great find!
-Umphrey's was great night one, sub-par night two
-moe. met and exceeded all expectations; not only was the music great; but the sets were well-chosen and probably had the best light show that I have ever seen

As I said, more later!
